Volunteer Guidance

How to be a volunteer?

1

Why should you volunteer?

Exploring nature alongside children with autism can be challenging, but it will ultimately also be incredibly rewarding. It requires patience, understanding, and a willingness to adapt to each child's unique needs and abilities. By volunteering your time and energy, you can make a positive difference in the lives of these children and their families.

Who Can Be a Volunteer?

Anyone who is interested in volunteering and working with children with autism can volunteer at our organization. While we do not impose a strict age requirement, volunteers should possess the ability to perform the tasks in the previous section "your Duties as a Volunteer".

Your Duties As A Volunteer

Thank you for joining the Blossoming in Nature volunteer community. Your dedication and support are genuinely appreciated, as you play a pivotal role in making this experience memorable for our special children and their families.

To ensure everyone's safety and enjoyment, here are some essential guidelines:

  • Support the children during the hike by providing assistance with any physical or emotional challenges they may face.

  • Facilitate social interactions with and between children by encouraging communication and collaboration during the hike.

  • Keep a watchful eye: We'll be splitting off into groups of 2-3. During the hike, stay close to the group and regularly scan to ensure everyone is accounted for. Look out for spider webs or other insects that might be on the trail.

  • Prioritize the trail: Stick to the designated trail, navigate around any obstacles we may encounter, and treat our natural surroundings with respect and care.

  • Encourage friendly interactions: Encourage teamwork and a sense of shared adventure amongst our little explorers.

  • As some families will probably bring some small kids, some of the small kids will also be assigned to watch them as we walk the trail. For those kids, one volunteer will be assigned to each.
