Our April event at Terry Hershey Park was a peaceful celebration of the season—an evening filled with warmth, connection, and the simple joy of being surrounded by nature. As families and volunteers gathered beneath the soft spring sun, there was an air of calm anticipation, the kind that only a beautiful day outdoors can bring.
The event began with friendly greetings and light chatter as participants arrived, ready to explore the natural beauty of the park. With winding trails, tall trees, and gentle breezes, the setting invited everyone to slow down and enjoy the present moment.
This event’s highlight was a delightful Easter Egg Hunt, thoughtfully planned by the Blossoming in Nature Team. Colorful eggs were carefully hidden along a quiet stretch of trail and nestled in the grass near the trees, creating an exciting adventure for the children. Laughter echoed through the park as the kids enthusiastically searched for eggs, their baskets filling with tiny surprises. The joy and excitement on their faces brought an extra layer of magic to the evening, making the moment one to remember for all.
Our group set off on a nature walk along the park’s scenic paths. Along the way, we passed still creeks over bridges, listened to birdsong, and admired the blooming flowers. There was a lovely balance of quiet moments and cheerful conversation. Some paused to take in the peaceful atmosphere, while others shared stories and laughter that added warmth to the walk.
Midway through, the group paused at a quiet clearing to rest and enjoy the view. The soft rustling of leaves and the rhythmic footsteps created a sense of calm and togetherness that defined the spirit of the event.
As the walk came to a close, families and volunteers gathered once more to share light refreshments and reflections. Smiles were exchanged, friendships grew stronger, and memories were made. The peaceful setting, combined with the care and presence of everyone involved, made the event truly special.
A big thank-you to the eighteen families with special needs who joined us, and to our dedicated volunteers—Missy Han, Zixiao Wang, Arnav Bhatte, Dan Xiong, Katelyn Nguyen, and Emily Alsup—for helping create such a meaningful experience. The day would not have been the same without your support and kindness.
With every event, we continue to grow stronger as a community—rooted in compassion, joy, and the shared love of the outdoors.
